2013 is fast approaching! As you begin to the contemplate your New Year’s Resolutions, consider what the new YOU will bring! What is the one goal you have set for yourself that finds its way onto your list year after year? One of my personal goals is to get fit. For the past several years it’s been the one goal that somehow gets left behind. This year (as with all preceding years) I plan to make that my resolution, but this year I will solicit an accountability partner that will hopefully keep me on track!

As I reflect on 2012 and all that changes that have occurred in my own life, I am eagerly looking forward to the new year and all it has to offer!

Live your life each day as you would climb a mountain. An occasional glance towards the summit keeps the goal in mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each new vantage point.

How To Wear White In Autumn/Winter

If you’re like me, you have grown up all your life being told that you can’t wear white after Labor Day!  Well until recently I have done my absolute best to honor that “tradition” for lack of a better term.  What I am about to share with you would have some of my more “mature” family members shaking their heads!

Ok, so here it goes…you CAN wear white in the Fall and Winter, but there is a caveat of course.  You must do it in the right manner.  You cannot and should not wear white with just anything you have in your closet simply because it matches.  White being one of those neutral colors, theoretically you could pair with it anything, but during this season, it’s not a good idea.

So what colors are ok to pair with white this Fall/Winter?  Well there are two main colors that make for a great pairing.  That is the traditional Black and the color of Gold!  When paired together, you are giving your outfit the hint of color that is needed to break-up the white, while at the same time wearing white in the most fashionable way possible. Now I must add, this does not include white shoes!  Please, wait until Spring/Summer for that!

There you have it my friend!  As you are out shopping for your Holiday outfit, why not go for one that includes White/Gold or White/Black…add some accessories and you will be picture perfect for any holiday party for sure!

If you are looking for some great places to shop this holiday season, here are a few of my favorites:

Forever 21

Jeans…How to Wear Them and Be Stylish!

Now I know we all have our favorite pair of jeans that we absolutely love!  I’m sure that as you are out and about running errands or shuffling the kids around to their various activities, you have noticed that everyone has their own “way” in which they like to wear their jeans.  Some like to wear their favorite flip flops while others opt for a more casual look with their favorite pair of running shoes.  That being said, I wanted to share a few tips that I have learned on how to wear jeans and be stylish at the same time!

Let’s go:

1) If you are opting for “one roll”, you can pair the jeans up with a cute flat.  My favorite is a leopard flat when rolling my jeans up.

2) When rolling the pants leg up twice, a great option would be a wedge shoe or ankle boots.  This will give you a little height; that always works when you are out on the town!

3) When wear skinny and/or super skinny jeans, my favorite is pairing them with a “riding” boot that sits just below or at the knee.  Please no baggy jeans and tall boots…this is a huge fashion no no!!!!!

These are just a few ways you can wear your jeans, try to be creative and opt for something that’s a little out of the box, you never know you just might like it!  Jeans can be casual or dressy, depending on the shoe you opt for makes all the difference!

Be fabulous~

Vintage Is In!

02 Sunday Dec 2012

When you think about fashion, you can’t help but reflect on all things “vintage”.  What does it mean for an item to be considered vintage anyway?  Well that’s a great question!  According to Wikipedia, “Vintage is a generic term used for second hand garments from a previous era”.  Generally speaking the time period between 1920 and about 1960 is the time period being referenced.

Fast forward to 2012, and I am sure that you have noticed that all things Vintage is really popular right now.  Fur is a vintage trend that can be seen throughout fashion this season.  Whether a fur vest (really hot now), wrap or coat; you will definitely make a statement with this look.  One of my favorite looks happens to be the vest (faux or real) with a pair of vintage jeans, white shirt and depending on where I’m headed a leopard print flat or wedge boot!  No matter what your fashion style is, the important thing to note is that if it’s vintage, there’s a great chance that it will work!

In addition to the 1920-1960 time period, the 80’s look is making a comeback as well.  Cropped sweaters and tops with pleated cropped pants also make a good outfit!

So what if you are wanting to get into Vintage Fashion, however don’t own any pieces.  Below are a few stores in the Austin area where you might find some good deals on truly vintage items:

*Platos Closet (if you’re into second hand garments this is a great place to start)

*Cream Vintage

*Feathers Boutique

*Blue Velvet

So the next time you are out shopping, just go for it!  You just might love it!
