Austin Fashion Week 2013
Austin Fashion Week came to an end on last Saturday, with its 5th Annual Awards Show! The night was full of fabulous designs, creativity, glamour and excitement to say the least. Onlookers were provided a night that will not soon be forgotten. Designs from Boudoir Queen were the hit of the night and were a great conclusion to the week.
After the show I stood in awe of all that had taken place over the past few days. From Showcases to Runway Shows, AFW was a huge success and something fashion lovers in Austin, Texas can be proud of! Having been privileged to work behind the scenes at the Runway Shows and the Awards Show, I have to say I am already looking forward to Austin Fashion Week 2014!
Here are a few pictures from behind the scenes:

Color Me Fabulous!
Finding the best colors that make you look great can often seem like a daunting task, but it can be done. My goal is help take the guess-work out of finding the colors that make your skin appear fresh, your eyes pop and brighten your smile!
I’ve found that by holding a blank piece of white paper near your face is the best way to discover “your color”. In doing so, do your cheeks appear slightly pink or blue? If you answered yes, then your skin has “cool” undertones. On the other hand, if your skin appears more orange and/or yellow then you have “warm” undertones. Now that was the easy…right? Now let’s take a moment to identify some tips on color combos that will flatter you. Sometimes the most flattering colors will not be one ones that you typically like, so please don’t count them out! You just may be able to find ways to “sneak” those pops of color into your wardrobe and bring out your best features!
Let’s get started!
Warm Undertones:
1- Burgundy- A deeper red with a little more purple is better for women who have warm skin tones.
2- Camel- Warm skin types look bold next to this rich neutral color.
3- Lavender- Benefits warm skin tones more so than any other “soft” shade.
4- Mossy Green- Give some contrast to warm skin tones.
Cool Undertones:
1- Navy- Is the “go to” for those with cool undertones. It brings out the natural “blue” that’s already in the skin.
2- Emerald Green- Is a green with a hint of blue, so naturally this works well for cool skin.
3- Icy Blue- This will make pale skin and eyes really pop!

Whatever your skin tone, wearing the right color can make or break your outfit, so use this as a guide to put your best foot forward. To make your outfit really pop, you can try putting together shades that compliment each other that are complete opposites:
Orange/Blue
Purple/Yellow
Green/Red
Any of these pairings will make each other appear brighter and bolder when worn together!

Michael Kors Spring 2013 Collection
Well, he’s done it again! The Michael Kors Spring 2013 Collection is a must see! This season is full of everything I love. From bright bold colors to Nautical Stripes and must have accessories, I am so looking forward to hitting the store to make my first Michael Kors purchase of the Spring.
I’m sure you would agree, Michael seems to always know what fashion consumers want and is always ahead of the game. His pieces can easily make the transition from the runway to ready to wear with such ease. I think that’s why we all love his work! Here are a few of my favorites from this season:

Another reason I am such a fan of Michael Kors is his commitment to giving back. Michael and Halle Berry have teamed up with the United Nations World Food Program to #watchhungerstop! For every purchase of a Michael Kors Runway Watch, $25 will be donated to WFP. That’s 100 meals for every watch purchased! Visit the Michael Kors website at www.michaelkors.com for more details and let’s get behind this great cause!

Until next time,

What’s Your Personal Style?
Style is the expression of someone’s personality through their appearance. There really isn’t a “best” style; meaning there is no one look that is right for all people. My job as Fashion/Wardrobe Stylist is to help clients find their own sense of personal style and express what is natural for them. What feels best on a client typically is what looks best!
Here are a few basic styles to help you uncover your style preference:
Classic:
This look never goes out of style! A person fitting this profile uses a neutral palette for makeup and has defined cheekbones, eyes dressed with mascara, and define brows. Hair is likely in a chignon or pulled back. Celebs that fit this profile include Gwyneth Paltrow and Sophia Loren.
Dramatic:
Dramatic people are self-confident and flamboyant. They wear defined eye makeup, use their face as a palette like an artist working with a canvas. The person that fits this profile love to wear black heels and black slacks. Celebs that fit this profile include Beyoncé and Victoria Beckham.
Elegant:
This woman fills the room with her presence. Her look is polished and classic, with makeup based on a neutral palette. Her lip color and eye makeup are soft but her lashes are dramatic! An elegant woman may wear a black Armani suit. Celebs that fit this profile include Grace Kelly and Katie Holmes.
Natural:
Women with this style have a more wholesome look. They often wear minimal makeup, with maybe a touch of lipstick and/or mascara. Their clothing is comfortable and cozy. They style their hair simply, maybe pulled back in a ponytail or loosely laying on their shoulders. Celebs who fit this style include Michelle Pfeiffer and Cameron Diaz.
Romantic:
This person wears romantic frilly, feminine clothing. They love to wear soft makeup with pink and lavender colors. Celebs that fit this profile include Jennifer Love Hewitt.
Sporty:
When a woman with a sporty-chic style gets dressed, she does not invest much time or thought, however still manages to look fabulous. They may wear something such as a grey pair of trousers with loafers, a turtle-neck sweater and a jacket. Their hair is short or simply styled. Women who define this style include Katharine Hepburn and Jennifer Garner.
Having researched the different styles, I would have to say that I most identify with the Elegant style. What style to you identify with? I would love to hear from you! Send me an email to windy@allthewaylife.net or inbox me at facebook.com/allthewaylife!
Be fabulous,

Austin Beauty Week 2013
Austin Beauty Week is a bi-annual, weeklong celebration dedicated to beauty & wellness in Austin, which offers consumers an opportunity to try and enjoy full-service treatments or experiences at a reduced price. The Spring 2013 Launch Party was a hit! Kicking things off with a Salon Showcase, held March 28th in downtown Austin on the rooftop of Speakeasy; hundreds of Fashion and Beauty followers gathered to get a taste of Fashionable Austin!
I am excited to share that this was my first taste of Austin Beauty Week! I partnered with Wild Orchid Hair Salon-who participated in the Salon Showcase; as Wardrobe Stylist. My goal was to create “glamorous looks” that would compliment the one of a kind hair designs created by the Wild Orchid team! I must say the experience was one that I will never forget. Working with such a talented team of Hair Stylist like: Danielle Benson, Lorie Newman, Rebecca Engel, Jessica Chapman and Mia Marquis was such an honor and not to mention tons of fun!!!! In addition to the ladies of Wild Orchid Hair Salon, I was surrounded by gorgeous models like: Sarah Creel, Lindsey Wallace, Lucrecia Rodriguez, Zoe Pew, Megan McAnnelly and Amber Kuhaneck who killed the runway with their fierce looks! Featuring one of kind designs of Lilly Lorraine Inc. as well as Golden Bones and Luxe Apothetique and unique handcrafted jewelry from the Sugar Factory (Gay Isber) the models were crowd favorites if I must say so myself!
In case you missed it, take a look at a few pics from the night:

What to Wear This Spring
Spring has finally arrived and along with the change in seasons comes the change in our wardrobe. So many choices that it could be somewhat overwhelming to decide what to wear.
The runways of the most popular fashion designers gave us looks that are full of vibrant colors, prints and flair. Fear not, some old staples to the rescue. With items you likely already have in your closet, you can create trendy looks while keeping up with the latest in fashion.
Color Blocking:
You can never go wrong with this trendy look. You can easily achieve this look by pairing your favorite T-shirt or blouse or flirty top in a solid color and pair it up with a pair of skinny jeans or shorts in another color that pops. For instance, if you have a Monaco Blue top, you could pair it with Lemon Zest bottoms to create this look. Top it off with a great pair of shoes in yet another color and you’re ready to take on the day!
Black and White:
Now without rummaging through the closets of every person in the world, I can say with certainty that just about everyone has one if not more items that are black and/or white. Either of these colors can be paired with just about anything to complete a look. A black Peplum Blouse paired with an Emerald Green Pencil Skirt and Leopard Pumps is a simple yet elegant look. Add in a few accessories like a simple Gold Initial Chain and you are picture perfect for date night!
Skirts:
This is a trend that I am most excited about this season. I love skirts and have been making a conscious effort to wear them more often. In so many styles and patterns such as Leather Peplum and Sassy Prints, this Spring is certain to be the year of the skirt! My favorite skirt has to be the Lemon Zest Pencil Skirt. So bright and fun and can be worn to the office or Girls Night Out! Throw in a simple blazer to take the look up a notch!
So there you have it my fellow Fashionistas! This Spring is set up to be stylish and fun! Most of the trends can be pulled right from your closet…if you need a little guidance, WJC Personal Stylist to the rescue! Shoot me an email and we will make fashion… fun!!!!

Try putting on one color then sliding on one swipe of the other color for an even more dramatic look. The more dramatic the better!
What’s your favorite? Tangerine or Fuchsia? My favorite has to be a tie between the two! I wore Tangerine for the first time a few weeks ago and to my surprise I really liked it!
